Mercantile Bank signs agreement with BB on SME fund project

Mercantile Bank Limited and Bangladesh Bank (BB) signed an agreement on 'Refinance Scheme for Small and Medium Enterprise Development Project' at Jahangir Alam Conference Centre of Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday. Kazi Masihur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO of Mercantile Bank, and Md Abul Bashar, General Manager of Financial Inclusion Department and Project Manager of SMEDP-2 of Bangladesh Bank, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, was present at the signing ceremony. Bangladesh Bank in collaboration with Asian Development Bank (ADB) has raised a US$240 million Refinancing Scheme fund under SMEDP-2 project for SME entrepreneurs through commercial banks and Mercantile Bank has been nominated to receive this fund for this purpose. — Statement

UCB annual business confce

The annual business conference 2018 of United Commercial Bank Limited was held at a city hotel on Thursday, with State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury as the chief guest. Managing Director of UCB AE Abdul Muhaimen delivered the welcome speech at the conference. Director and Chairman of Risk Management Committee Md Jahangir Alam Khan and Chairman of UCB Foundation MA Sabur, also a director of UCB, attended the event. The First Conference-2018 of regional and corporate branch managers of Pubali Bank Limited was held at the bank's head office in the city on Thursday. Habibur Rahman, Chairman, Board of Directors of Pubali Bank Ltd., was present as the chief guest while Syed Moazzem Hussain, Director of Pubali Bank, was the special guest. Md Abdul Halim Chowdhury, Managing Director and CEO of the bank, presided over the conference.
