Green Delta Ins, Syngenta ink deal

Green Delta Insurance Company and Syngenta Foundation signed an agreement on Tuesday in Dhaka on launching Weather Index-based Crop Insurance. Under this agreement, Green Delta Insurance will provide insurance coverage for the paddy and vegetable farmers in the northern part of Bangladesh through different NGO's, MFI's, farmers' hubs with contribution of Swiss Agency for Development (SDC).

Farzanah Chowdhury (MD & CEO, Green Delta Insurance) and Farhad Zamil (Country Director, Syngenta Foundation) signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. — Statement

SJIBL holds Shariah Supervisory meeting

The 59th meeting of Shariah Supervisory Committee of Shahjalal Islami Bank was held recently. The Chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank's Shariah Supervisory Committee Allamah Mufti Abdul Halim Bukharee presided over the meeting.

ICMAB event on aligning tax policy

The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) arranged a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program on "Aligning tax policy - A Case study on Bangladesh" at ICMAB Bhaban, Dhaka on Tuesday. Mr. Kanon Kumar Roy, Member (Tax Policy), National Board of Revenue (NBR) attended the program as Chief Guest. M. Abul Kalam Mazumdar FCMA, president of ICMAB, presided over the programme. Ms. Femke Groothuis, Founder and President of The Ex'tax Project, The Netherlands took part in the session on the topic as keynote speaker. Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, Deputy Secretary, Finance Division Ministry of Finance, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, Advocate Maruf Hasan ACCA, Member, Dhaka Taxes Bar Association and Mr. Peter Gersen, Vice-President, The Ex'tax Project, The Netherlands was present as discussants. Mr. Arif Khan FCMA, CEO & Managing Director, IDLC Finance Limited was present as moderator. Mr. Md. Kausar Alam FCMA, Vice-Chairman, Seminar & Conference Committee, ICMAB offered vote of thanks in the program. A good number of professional CMAs took part in the question & answer session.
