HSBC supports women entrepreneurs

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) Bangladesh and Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) recently launched a project for skills development on eco-friendly techniques for women entrepreneurs. The objective of the initiative is to empower rural women by providing them skills that will support self-employment and entrepreneurship. Additionally, the project will support development of existing environmental practices in Sitakund. 'Community Engagement Programme on Women Entrepreneurship' is expected to support four-hundred women entrepreneurs with training, tools and market linkage. Sixteen types of training will be provided which includes organic agriculture, tailoring, cow rearing, etc. The women participants will be linked with YPSA's micro finance program supported by PKSF to ensure loan support. This project will also support planting of ten thousand saplings in Siitakund area. — Statement

ERD team visits LafargeHolcim office

A delegation from Economic Relations Division (ERD) from Finance Ministry & GIZ led by Dr. Nahid Rashid, Additional Secretary, and Wing Chief (Europe), ERD recently visited LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited (LHBL) corporate office in Dhaka. Arif Bhuiyan, Procurement & Logistics Director of LHBL welcomed them at the office. The delegation had a brief discussion and overview on the Geocycle Project which was largely centred on the successfully initiated Sustainable Integrated Sludge Management (SISM) in collaboration with the DoE and GIZ. Hasnat Noor Chowdhury, business development manager (Geocycle) along with other high officials from LHBL were also present during the discussion.— Statement
