BB holds school banking confce
Bangladesh Bank recently organised the School Banking Conference Dhaka 2018 at Dhaka Residential Model College. Abu Hena Mohd. Razee Hassan, Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank was the chief guest of the programme. Shafiuddin Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Technical and Madrassah Education Division of the Ministry of Education, Md. Abdur Rahim, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Md. Ataur Rahman Prodhan, Managing Director & CEO of Rupali Bank Ltd, Md. Arfan Ali, President & Managing Director of Bank Asia Ltd and General Secretary of Association of Bankers Bangladesh were present as special guest of the programme. Md. Abul Basar, General Manager of Financial Inclusion Department of Bangladesh Bank, presided over the programme, which was participated by 600 students along with 120 teachers of 60 schools and the schools were adopted by 57 scheduled banks of Bangladesh. The main objective of the programme was to develop savings habit among the students through opening school banking accounts. Now there are about 1.5 million school banking accounts and about Tk 14 billion deposited with the accounts. — Statements
Shurwid gets Titas approval for gas connection
Shurwid Industries Limited has informed the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) that Titas Gas transmission & Distribution Company Ltd. approved 10,800 cubic feet per hour and 76,333.09 cubic meters gas connection of captive power to the company and issued the demand note. By this approval the company will operate 950 KW Waukesha gas generator, which has already been installed in the factory premises and will get uninterrupted power for its smooth production. Turnover and profit of the company expected to be increased due to this 10,800 cft gas connection.
