Nurun Nahar took over as deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday, according to a statement.
She was serving as the senior-most executive director of Bangladesh Bank (grade-1) prior to her new role at the central bank.
Nurun Nahar will serve the central bank for three years on a contractual basis.
Born in 1965 at Dhanmrai upazila in Dhaka district, she did her BSC in 1984 and MBA in 2001. She joined the Bangladesh Bank in 1989 as an assistant director.
She also served Chattogram and Rajshahi offices of Bangladesh Bank efficiently.
She was promoted to executive director of the central bank in 2019.
