OBOR team keen to help with BD's development projects

FE REPORT | September 24, 2024 00:00:00

A visiting high-profile delegation from the Global Confederation of Belt and Road Economic Cooperation (OBOR) has shown interest in supporting Bangladesh for advancing its long-term goals for a prosperous and green future.

The delegation members, who arrived in Dhaka on a five-day visit on September 21, met high officials of the Public Private Partnership Authority and the Power Division and business chamber leaders.

Sharifah Sabrina, chairperson of OBOR Economic Cooperation for Bangladesh, led the nine-member delegation, which included Chris Chan from Singapore and Xu Feng, secretary general of the confederation, from China.

The OBOR team has expressed keen interest in participating in Bangladesh's energy sector and smart development projects that emphasise sustainability.

A press release issued by the OBOR Bangladesh chapter said the delegation's vision was aligned with creating a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future for Bangladesh.

This visit coincides with global discussions on sustainability at the ongoing UN General Assembly in New York.

The OBOR delegation is endorsing the assembly's calls for creative and sustainable solutions to tackle environmental challenges.

By fostering partnerships in energy and sustainable development, the OBOR hopes to support Bangladesh for advancing its long-term goals for a prosperous and green future.

As Bangladesh steps forward on this journey, the OBOR Economic Cooperation expresses its commitment to collaborating with the government to ensure a cleaner, more sustainable future for all citizens, the press release added.

The delegation will end its visit on Tuesday. The visit has been organised with the objective of contributing to the country's infrastructure development and encouraging foreign direct investment (FDI).
