Prof Hashem new BASIC Bank chairman

Professor Abul Hashem has been made the chairman of state-owned BASIC Bank Ltd. Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance issued a circular on Monday, appointing him as the chairman of the BASIC Bank for three years, says a press release. Prof Hashem is set to join the bank today (Tuesday). Prior to this, Prof Hashem was the Chairman of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). He also served as a director of the DSE from 2010 to 2017. Mr Hashem started off his career in 1974 at the University of Dhaka as a lecturer of Accounting Department and retired on June 30, 2016 as professor. Currently, he is working as an honorary professor of the Accounting and Information Communication Department at the DU. He is also the vice-chancellor of the Anwar Khan Modern University.
