SCB team to attend meetings in Netherlands

Md. Rezaul Karim, Chairman, Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) and Vice- Chairman, Asian Shippers' Alliance will leave Dhaka today (Sunday) for the Netherlands to attend the Asian Shippers' Alliance and Global Shippers' Alliance Meeting.

The three-day meeting begins tomorrow (Monday) at NH Barbizon Palace Hotel, Amsterdam, organized by European Shippers' Council (ESC).

The meeting will discuss maritime issues like BER, detention and demurrage, competition, terminal surcharges, low sulphur, accidents and lashing; GSA policy activities 2019; air freight issues like capacity and IATA slot policy, update on TIACA activities and IATA world cargo symposium, sustainability; E-commerce, Policy agenda 2019; International cooperation (GSA-GSF) and membership issues.

Apart from Bangladesh, representatives from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Korea Shippers' Council & Macau, China, Shenzen Shippers' Association and American Association of Exporters & Importers will also attend the meeting.

Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Director, SCB will accompany the chairman.

They are expected to return on March 29, said a statement.
