Sector-specific stocks attract investors

The Dhaka bourse featured a winning session on Monday amidst optimistic behaviour of the investors towards the market.

On the day, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed 'fresh buy' and the turnover rose moderately.

According to EBL Securities, the broad index remained upward with slight volatility.

After starting the session on a positive note and finally it closed with a marginal rise in broad index.

At the end of the session, the DSEX closed at 6,319.12 points with a rise of 0.19 per cent or 12.17 points.

The shariah-based index DSES also rose marginal, while the blue chip index DS30 witnessed a marginal fall.

Of total number of issues traded, 127 advanced, 161 declined and 36 were unchanged and the turnover stood at above Tk 11.58 billion.

According to LankaBangla Finance, a total number of above 0.16 million trades were executed in the day's trading session, generating a turnover of above Tk 11.58 billion with trading volume of 334.50 million securities.

The EBL Securities said investors were positive and engaged in fresh buy to capitalise the positive vibe of the market.

"Investors' buying binge continued on sector-specific stocks, especially from pharmaceuticals & chemicals, and financial institutions," said the EBL Securities.

AB Bank topped the turnover chart followed by LankaBangla Finance, Dhaka Bank, Square Pharmaceuticals, Shahjalal Islami Bank and City Bank.
