The Dhaka bourse closed marginally higher on Thursday amid mixed performance displayed by major sectors.

The market opened positively and later the DSEX, broad index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went through ups and downs.

Of the major sectors, bank, fuel & power and telecommunication played a market supportive role. As a result, the DSEX settled in green zone amid volatility observed throughout the whole session.

According to International Leasing Securities, the market opened with positive note and ended in the same direction as the opportunist investors revealed their buying interest on large cap stocks, especially from food, telecom, bank and pharmaceutical sectors.

"On the other hand, some investors opted for liquidating their position from mutual fund, textile and engineering sectors," said the International Leasing Securities.

Of total issues traded, 110 advanced, 181 declined and 45 were unchanged on the premier bourse.

Investors' participation was concentrated mostly on banking sector which grabbed 23.4 per cent of the market turnover.

Beximco topped the scrip-wise turnover chart with a value of Tk 688 million.
