Summit Communications Limited (SCL) has provided back up during Submarine Cable (SMW4) maintenance downtime keeping services uninterrupted, said a statement.
SMW4 cable has started to go through maintenance by its consortium starting 20th of April and the country has faced total SMW4 cable system outage till 1st May 2019. It is supposed to be completed by 1st May, 2019. For approx. 12 days almost 300Gbps bandwidth will remain down in the whole country and hence is expected to experience poor and degraded internet service. But Summit Communications Limited has built and prepared its network in such way that SCL's customers (more than 350 Gbps) do not face service degradation because of maintaining equally balanced network with ITC, SMW4 and SMW5 & also sufficient redundant bandwidth for congestion free network.
SCL's ITC has played an important role as a backup during such national crisis. Moreover, SCL's NTTN has carried most of SMW5's internet BW through Dhaka - Kuakata route for not only SCL's own IIG but also serve the rest of the IIGs in the country who has provided SMW5 BW to the country during this maintenance period. All in all, for the benefit of the country SCL is ready to serve full capacity and maintain full uptime during this disaster situation.
Md. Arif Al Islam, MD & CEO of Summit Communications Ltd on this said, "In the last few years SMW4 sea cable system has undergone several maintenance activities as well as experienced outages. However, during the planned maintenance/outage scenario SCL has provided seamless service without interrupting its customers especially after SCL ITC came into operation. This time would be no different. We pursue to develop the best connectivity platform for our users with almost 100% availability and seamless connectivity with the intention of serving the nation."
Being the largest ITC operator in the country with highest number of upstream connectivity, state of art network equipment, experienced team and unparalleled Quality of Service, Summit is pursuing to develop the best connectivity platform to ensure smooth and secure service for all its business partners. Its ITC network within Bangladesh and India comprises of different terrestrial cable routes which are connected to the world in more than one way using several submarine cable systems like IMEWE, TGN-EA, TIC, SMW4, I2I etc.
Summit NTTN has built over 45,000 Km fiber throughout the country and is supporting all mobile operators, IIGs and ISPs. Summit IIG supplies more than one third internet BW of the national demand. ITC offers seamless service to the customers through a state-of-art robust Network by importing BW globally.
Bangladesh maintains internet upstream from BSCCL (SMW4&5) through submarine cable and terrestrial cable from India. Currently close to 1.1Tbps internet bandwidth is consumed in Bangladesh through SMW4, SMW5 and ITC. SCL has procured bandwidth from both ILDC systems (Via Submarine and Terrestrial) and currently serves one third of the countries BW demand which is more than 350 Gbps by ensuring protected network to provide uninterrupted experience to their valued customers. Because of maintaining balanced bandwidth from all probable gateway from Bangladesh (Cox's Bazar, Kuakata and Benapole) SCL provides seamless internet bandwidth and is the most trusted service provider in the country.
