Syngenta launches 'SheShines' to empower rural women

March 12, 2025 00:00:00

Syngenta Bangladesh has launched a new initiative, 'SheShines', under its Sustainability Programme, aimed at empowering rural women by enhancing their skills, financial independence, and roles within the agricultural value chain.

The 'SheShines' was inaugurated by Hedayet Ullah, Managing Director of Syngenta Bangladesh, in the presence of Zinat Ara, Director General at the Department of Jute, Ministry of Textile & Jute, along with a group of rural women beneficiaries, says a statement.

The 'SheShines' is more than just a project; it is a platform designed to unlock the full potential of rural women in Bangladesh. The initiative focuses on skill development, capacity building, and enhancing access to finance and information in the Cottage, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (CMSME) sector.

Through this effort, Syngenta aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and foster economic independence for women.

Women are at the heart of rural economies, yet they often lack access to resources and opportunities. Through SheShines, Syngenta seeks to bridge this gap by providing rural women with the knowledge, tools, and financial access. This initiative is a testament to Syngenta's long-term commitment to gender equality and sustainable rural development.

Syngenta Bangladesh operates as a joint venture, with Syngenta AG of Switzerland holding 60% of the shares and the Bangladesh government holding the remaining 40% through the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).
