The ten most-traded companies accounted for one-third of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) this week, with three IT firms making their way to the top turnover list.
The three IT companies are Aamra Networks, Genex Infosys and ADN Telecom.
According to available data with the DSE, some 14.72 million Aamra Networks shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 826 million, which was 5.37 per cent of the week's total turnover.
The week's total turnover dropped to Tk 15.37 billion, down 24 per cent from Tk 20.25 billion in the previous week.
The company's share price closed at Tk 56 on Thursday, gaining 3.90 per cent over the week before. Its share soared 48 per cent in the past six weeks despite the market passing through a bearish trend.
Meanwhile, Aamra Networks has decided to sell its data centre at Tk 115 million owing to dissatisfactory revenue generation. The company will invest the fund in a new business, and in developing its existing business lines, according to a disclosure on Thursday.
The company said the board believes the introduction of a new product line and investments in profitable multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) business will have a greater impact on its profitability than the data centre.
Genex Infosys came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 738 million billion changing hands during the week. The company's share price dropped 2.85 per cent to close at Tk 88.60 on Thursday.
Bashundhara Paper Mills clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 695 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 75.10 on Thursday, losing 8.53 per cent over the previous week.
Orion Pharma emerged as fourth, with shares worth Tk 543 million changing hands. The company's share fell 2.29 per cent to close at Tk 85.20 on Thursday.
Eastern Housing notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 420 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 80.50, shedding 2.07 per cent.
Turnover of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation was Tk 404 million. The company's share price dropped 0.86 per cent to close at Tk 115.70 on Thursday.
Monno Ceramic Industries featured a turnover of Tk 377 million. Its share closed at Tk116.60, soaring 9.07 per cent over the previous week.
The turnover of Chartered Life Insurance was Tk 376 million. The company's share price slid 10.67 per cent to close at Tk 61.10 on Thursday.
Navana Pharma featured a turnover of Tk 355 million. The company's share closed at Tk 79.60, losing 10.86 per cent over the week before.
ADN Telecom also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 335 million changing hands. The company's share price advanced 7.10 per cent to close at Tk 111.60 on Thursday.
