FE REPORT | June 03, 2023 00:00:00

Ten most-traded firms accounted for one-fourth of the turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week, with Intraco Refueling Station dominating the turnover list.

The Intraco Refueling Station topped the market turnover chart as investors chased its shares, buoyed by its promising business outlook.

Recently, the listed company signed a 10-year contract with the state-owned Sundarban Gas Company to supply gas to different industrial areas of Gazipur from Bhola, as per the agreement.

The deal was made against the backdrop of an acute shortage of gas that consumers of TITAS Gas Transmission & Distribution Company have been facing in the industrial areas of Gazipur and Mymensingh districts.

According to the DSE data, some 44.16 million Intraco Refueling shares were traded during the week, generating a turnover of Tk 1.95 billion, which was 3.53 per cent of the week's total turnover.

The week's total turnover stood at Tk 55.22 billion, up from Tk 45.86 billion in the week before at the Dhaka bourse.

The company's stock price soared 16.92 per cent during the week to close at Tk 47 each.

Navana Pharmaceuticals came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 1.69 billion changing hands. The drug maker's share price also surged 4.36 per cent to close at Tk 105.30 on Thursday.

LafargeHolcim Bangladesh clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 1.63 billion changing hands. The multinational cement maker's share closed at Tk 71.80, rising 7 per cent over the previous week.

Unique Hotel & Resorts emerged as fourth, with shares worth Tk 1.36 billion changing hands. The company's share price rose 2.67 per cent to close at Tk 77 on Thursday.

Bashundhara Paper Mills notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 1.29 billion changing hands. The company's stock price soared 7.34 per cent to close at Tk 84.80 on Thursday.
