Ten stocks grab 28pc turnover

The ten most-traded stocks accounted for 28.4 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the week to Thursday, with Bangladesh Export Import Company (Beximco) leading the turnover chart.

Beximco Group companies, especially Beximco and Shinepukur Ceramics, have been leading the market turnover chart for the past few weeks.

According to the DSE data, some 23.28 million Beximco shares were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 3.18 billion, which was 8.34 per cent of the week's total turnover.

The company's share closed at Tk 134.80 on Thursday, gaining 0.15 per cent over the week before.

Beximco has led the market from the front in the past few months while the news of a big jump in its net profit prompted investors to buy the company's shares, said a stockbroker.

The company's nine earnings per share (EPS) jumped 207 per cent to Tk 13.18 for July 2021-March 2022 as against Tk 4.30 for July 2020-March 2021.

Shinepukur Ceramics came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 1.45 billion changing hands. The company's share price dropped 0.20 per cent to close at Tk 50.20 on Thursday.

JMI Hospital Requisite Manufacturing clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 1.20 billion changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 84 on Thursday, gaining 0.48 per cent over the previous week.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 1.07 billion changing hands. The state-run corporation's share rose 0.43 per cent to close at Tk 116.50.

The turnover of Anwar Galvanizing was Tk 902 million. The company's share price advanced 0.77 per cent to close at Tk 420.40 on Thursday.

Fu-Wang Foods featured a turnover of Tk 686 million. Its share closed at Tk 23.40, gaining 4.93 per cent over the previous week.

The turnover of IPDC Finance was Tk 664 million. Its share price fell 3.07 per cent to close at Tk 56.80.

RAK Ceramics featured a turnover of Tk 660 million. The company's share closed at Tk 49.60, losing 5.16 per cent over the week before.

The turnover of Monno Fabrics was Tk 585 million. The company's share price plunged 6.51 per cent to close at Tk 27.30.

Saif Powertec also made its way to the week's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 442 million changing hands. The company's share fell 6.36 per cent to close at Tk 32.40 on Thursday.
