Walton wins best large scale industry entrepreneur award

The country's electronics company Walton has been awarded with 'IFIC Bank-Samakal Business Award-2018' for its outstanding contribution to the country's national economy in terms of booming large scale manufacturing industry, generating huge employment, making skilled workforce, performing various sorts of social welfare activities as part of corporate social responsibility, said a statement.

IFIC Bank and Bengali daily Samkal gave the award to the entrepreneurs at a programme held at the Carnival Hall of Bangabandhu International Convention Centre in the city recently. The awardees received Tk 0.2 million worth cheque each and crests.

Attending as the chief guest, Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak handed over crest and Tk o.2 million worth cheque as the award of large scale industry entrepreneur of the year to Walton's Executive Md. Humayun Kabir.

The local brand were received the award under the best large-scale industry entrepreneur of the year. Along with Walton, three more entrepreneurs were awarded with best female entrepreneur of the year, emerging youth entrepreneur of the year and best SME entrepreneur of the year.

The award giving ceremony was also attended, among others, by Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Advisor Salman F Rahman and The Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry's President Sheikh Fazle Fahim.

Bengali daily Samakal's Acting Editor Mustafiz Shafi presided over the function while IFIC Bank's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Shah A Sarwar, Walton's Deputy Executive Director Md. Firoj Alam and some other higher officials of government and private enterprises were present.

Addressing the events, Agriculture Minister Dr. Abdur Razzak said, "Bangladesh has made a remarkable progress in the country's economy. Now, representatives from various nations, along with the world's renowned agencies, are showing their eagerness to listen the stories behind the country's economy's advancement. In this case, private sector's entrepreneurs are in the main driving force. Some of them are making outstanding contributions to the boost of industrialization through properly utilizing the government's policy support and infrastructural improvements."
