Youngone Corporation awarded scholarships to students of Chittagong Independent University (CIU) at a programme held at the Youngone Corporation Auditorium at Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Anwara on Friday. Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest. The award ceremony, held at the Youngone Corporation Auditorium at Korean Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) in Anwara on Friday, marked the formal recognition of selected students under the "Youngone Corporation-CIU Academic Excellence Scholarship Programme."
Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury attended the event as the chief guest and distributed scholarship certificates among the recipients.
Kihak Sung, founding chairman and chief executive officer of Youngone Corporation and KEPZ Corporation (BD) Ltd, was present as guest of honour.
The programme was chaired by CIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr M. M. Nurul Absar and moderated by Assistant Registrar Ruma Das. Welcome address was delivered by Managing Director of Korean EPZ, Colonel (Retd) Mohammad Shahjahan. Lutfi M. Ayub, honorary chairman of the Board of Trustees of CIU, also spoke.
A total of 16 students from the BSc in Computer Science and Engineering, BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and BBA programmes were selected through a special evaluation process.
The scholarship offers a 100 per cent tuition fee waiver for the entire undergraduate programme, subject to maintaining a required CGPA. Recipients will also have opportunities for internships at Youngone Corporation and employment upon successful graduation, along with mentorship and support for higher education at universities in Korea.
