493 upazilas to host sales centres for CMSMEs

Cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) entrepreneurs will now be able to sell products at upazila level following a government initiative.

The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Oikko Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish CMSME display and sales centres at 493 upazilas.

The sales booths are intended to promote and sell products of the entrepreneurs.

BSCIC secretary Md Mofidul Islam and Oikko chief executive Apu Mahfuz signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at a city hotel on Wednesday evening.

As per the deal, Oikko Foundation will set up 'OIKKO Digital Display and Sales Centre' at upazila level.

Cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) entrepreneurs would be able to sell their products directly and digitally at the sales centres.

Industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun digitally connected with the MoU-signing ceremony.

He thanked the initiators of such a move and wished all success of the new joint effort taken by them.

BSCIC chairman Md Mostaque Hasan delivered an address of welcome while Oikkyo founding director Jahangir Hossain Mia gave a vote of thanks.
