February 14, 2019 00:00:00

Market once again saw a good competition for all clean liquoring varieties. Mediums and the plainest were also a good market and sold quite well. Both Blenders and Loose tea buyers operated quite actively in the weekly auction market held in the port city on Tuesday.

Dusts were an easier market, according to a statement of Bangladesh Tea Board.

CTC LEAF: As many as 25,785 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met with a strong demand at irregular rates.

BROKENS: A few clean liquoring Brokens met with a strong demand and were generally firm to slightly dearer. Their Mediums met with more competition and were mostly dearer. The plainest continued to sell well at firm rates whilst end of season types were slightly easier with some withdrawals.

FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings met with good competition and were once again a dearer market. Their Mediums sold well and were also dearer. Plainer sorts met with quite a strong competition and were fully firm to slightly dearer. End of season types were easier with fair withdrawals.

CTC DUST: As many as 6,752 packages of Current Season Teas on offer met with a fairly good demand. Good liquoring varieties met with less demand and sold at a drop of Tk10 to Tk 15. Others were also an easier market and were lower by Tk 15 to Tk 20 following quality with quite fair withdrawals. Blenders operated mostly on good liquoring teas. Loose tea buyers were active on lower Medium and poor quality teas.
