CCCI holds meeting with delegation of Intertek

A courtesy meeting between the leaders of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and a delegation from the UK-based company Intertek was held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) of CCCI on Thursday.

CHATTOGRAM, June 25: A courtesy meeting between the leaders of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and a delegation from the UK-based company Intertek was held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) of CCCI on Thursday.

CCCI President Mohammad Amirul Haque, Senior Vice-President Md. Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, Vice-President Mohammad Masiul Alam Swapan, former Senior Vice-President M. A. Salam, and Director Asad Iftekhar were present at the event.

Ajay Kapur, Regional Managing Director (South Asia) of Intertek; Niamul Hasan, Country Managing Director for Bangladesh; Aliza Sultan, Country Head of Sales and CRM; Rafiq Ahmed, Head of Sales (Chattogram) and Khandaker Belayet Hossain, former Director of BGMEA were also present at the meeting.

CCCI President Mohammad Amirul Haque stated that the CCCI is a historic institution with a century-long legacy.

"The CCCI works to enhance the ease of doing business and reduce the cost of doing business for entrepreneurs. Furthermore, it collaborates with the government to provide policy-related support to the business community and offers advocacy assistance regarding various issues faced by businesspeople," he added.

Ajay Kapoor, Regional Managing Director for South Asia of Intertek, said that Intertek is a 130-year-old company.

The organisation views Bangladesh as a strategic market and is keen to invest in various sectors within the country in the future-particularly in enhancing the "ease of doing business" for traders and investing in the technology sector, he said.
