CHATTOGRAM, Feb 20: The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) held a view-exchange meeting with Philippines Ambassador Ms Nina P Cainglet at the World Trade Centre (WTC) in the port city on Wednesday.
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) and CCCI Administrator Muhammad Anwar Pasha presided over the meeting.
Among others, Philippines Consul MA Awal, former CCCI Director Zahirul Islam Chowdhury (Alamgir), Chairman of Bangladesh Shipping Agent Association Syed Mohammad Arif, Managing Director of Lub-Ref Mohammad Yusuf, Executive Director of Trusted Shipping Lines Ltd Wahid Alam, Director of Eastern Logistics Shafayet Alam, BSRM Group's Imran Sheikh and Mohammad Monir Hossain spoke at the meeting.
Besides, Philippines Embassy Vice Consul Ms. Lynn R. Gutierrez, Administrative Officer Mr. Arthur L. Blas, Chairman of Eastern Logistics Limited Shah Alam, Chittagong Divisional Commissioner Office Senior Assistant Commissioner Md Mezbah Uddin, Philippine Consulate Chittagong Chief of Staff Sheikh Habibur Rahman were present at the function.
Addressing the meeting, Cainglet said, "Although the Philippines has friendly relations with Bangladesh, these relations have not yet reached significant levels in the economic field. Therefore, the Philippine Embassy is working to strengthen economic relations."
"Philippines technical sector is showing significant success now, particularly in agricultural processing, renewable energy, medical equipment and electric vehicle manufacturing. Bangladesh can work with the Philippines to address the global demand for environmentally friendly vehicles and renewable energy."
The Philippines envoy also emphasised the need for the development of business relations between the two countries through the chambers and business community of both Philippines and Bangladesh.
