Eastern Refinery Model High School celebrates golden jubilee

Eastern Refinery Model High School celebrated its golden jubilee on the school premises on Friday. Managing Director of ERL Engineer Sharif Hasnat was present as the chief guest and General Manager of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation Engineer Amir Masud as a special guest.

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 28: The Golden Jubilee of Eastern Refinery Model High School, a renowned educational institution established by Eastern Refinery Limited (ERL), was celebrated in the port city of Chattogram on Friday.

The school, founded by the country's only state-owned oil refinery, has played a significant role in the educational landscape of the region since its inception in 1974.

Managing Director of ERL Engineer Sharif Hasnat inaugurated the golden jubilee celebrations on the school premises as the chief guest. President of Eastern Refinery Model High School Alumni Association Nazimuddin Shyamol presided over the event while General Manager of Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Engineer Amir Masud was present as a special guest.

Executive President of the Alumni Association Engineer Md Imam Hossain and its General Secretary Shamsujjaman and Headmaster of the school Mohammed Moainuddin spoke on the occasion.

The daylong celebrations featured a variety of activities, including a cultural programme, a reception for retired teachers, discussions and memory-sharing sessions.

Nearly 2,000 alumni from home and abroad participated in the event, reflecting the school's widespread influence.

In his address, ERL Managing Director Sharif Hasnat highlighted the school's contributions to education and its role in shaping the careers of thousands of students.

Eastern Refinery Model High School has produced meritorious individuals who have excelled in diverse fields such as medicine, engineering, journalism, military service, and public administration, he said.

ERL is committed to continuing its support for the school, with plans to upgrade it into a college in the near future, he added.
