Jute packaging mandatory for poultry, fish feeds

The producers of poultry and fish feeds will have to use jute bags for packaging their products from now on, as the government made it obligatory, reports UNB.

The Textiles and Jute Ministry recently issued a notification in this regard, said an official release on Sunday.

"The government made the use of jute bags mandatory for preserving and transporting the of poultry and fish feeds by amending further the Jute Packaging Rules-2013 through exercising its power given in the Article 22 of the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act, 2010," the release said.

With the fresh two products, the government has made mandatory the use of jute bags for packaging a total of 19 items.

In 2010, the government passed a law making jute packaging mandatory for certain percentage of food items and fertiliser.

Three years later, the government formulated Jute Packaging Rules to implement the law.
