Loose tea buyers dominate

This was the last sale of the season where Loose Tea buyers dominated. There was hardly any interest from the Blenders. Prices eased for most teas and there were several withdrawals, in the weekly auction market held in the port city on Tuesday.

Dusts sold well, according to a statement of Bangladesh Tea Board.

A total of 1270 packages of new season teas on offer met with quite a strong demand but generally prices were lower than the previous sale. Most teas were selling between Tk 350 and Tk 450. Only a few teas were selling above this range.

CTC LEAF: As many as 7629 packages of Current Season (including 48 packages Orthodox), 1181 packages of New Season Teas on offer met with a fairly good demand at irregularly easier rates.

BROKENS/FANNINGS: Most teas were end of season in quality which met with a fair interest but generally at easier rates often declining by Tk 10 and more. There was also some withdrawals in this category.

CTC DUST: As many as 617 packages of Current Season & 89 packages of New Season Teas on offer met with a good demand at slightly easier rates. Once again Loose tea buyers dominated and Blenders were quiet.
