Market witnesses lower prices

Tea prices fell following less demand from buyers at the tea market on Tuesday, according to a press statement.

Buyers were more selective this week and closely followed quality. A fair weight of end of season types on offer and less demand from buyers, resulted in prices dropping further this week with heavier withdrawals.

Blenders were again less active whilst Loose tea buyers operated very selectively particularly in the leaf section of the catalogue.

Dusts were a lower market.

CTC Leaf: As many as 37,802 packages and 278 packages of Old Season Teas on offer once again met with much less demand at lower rates with heavy withdrawals.

Brokens: Good BOPs met with fair enquiry and eased by Tk 5/- to Tk 7/- whilst their medium and plainer types eased further with heavy withdrawals. Good liquoring GBOPs met with a fairly good demand but eased by Tk.3/- to Tk.5/-. Prices for all others dropped further with more withdrawals.

Fannings : Good liquoring Fannings met with a fairly good demand but generally eased by Tk 3/- to Tk 5/- over last. Medium types eased by Tk 5/- to Tk 7/- with some withdrawals whilst the plain and end of season types were neglected and were subject to heavy withdrawals.

CTC Dust: As many as 7,619 packages and 16 packages of Old Season Teas on offer met with quite a fair demand. Good liquoring teas were easier by upto Tk 8/- following quality. The remainder was also lower by Tk 8/- to Tk 10/-. Plainer varieties saw limited demand with more withdrawals. Benders lent good support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
