MEETING ON TELECOM INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT DURING DISASTERS

BTRC held a view-exchange meeting on telecommunication infrastructure management and adoption of necessary emergency measures during disasters at the BTRC Bhaban in Dhaka on Tuesday. In the meeting, representatives from government and private organisations and telecom service providers discussed various issues and recommended the formulation of a policy for sustainable disaster management. Brig Gen Shafiul Azam Parvez, Director General of the Engineering and Operations Division of BTRC, highlighted various relevant issues during disasters, including power outages, network down times, damage to optical fiber and microwave links, disruptions to data centers, and lack of amateur radio or alternative telecommunication means. Brig Gen Iqbal Ahmed (Retd.), Commissioner of the Engineering and Operations Division of BTRC, presided over the meeting.
