PPP Authority promotes investment in renewable energy, coastal tourism

The Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA) organised its Divisional Conference at Bangladesh-China Power Company Ltd. (BCPCL) in Patuakhali on Thursday, aiming to unlock regional investment opportunities through the PPP model.

The event brought together key stakeholders from government and industry. PPP Authority CEO (Secretary) Muhammad Rafiqul Islam attended the event as the chief guest, with Divisional Commissioner Mohammed Rayhan Kaosar in the chair and District Commissioner of Patuakhali Md Abu Hasnat Mohammad Arefin joining as the special guest, says a statement.

In his address, PPP Authority CEO Rafiqul Islam emphasised the government's readiness to offer large expanses of unused public land, especially in the southern coastal region, for renewable energy projects, highlighting the area's strong potential for solar and wind power.

He also pointed to the region's rare natural features, such as Kuakata where both sunrise and sunset are visible from the same point, presenting a unique opportunity for tourism investment under PPP model.

The conference reinforced the PPPA's strategic role in enabling sustainable, inclusive development through well-structured partnerships.

The PPP Authority invited private investors from Barishal division to capitalise on streamlined processes and strong policy support to build the next generation of energy and tourism infrastructure in Bangladesh.

Divisional and district level officers from various public departments attended the conference.
