Md. Shakawath Hossain, Chief Executive Officer of Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC, has been honoured with the prestigious Who's Who Bangladesh Award 2026 in the field of Professionals, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, professional excellence, and remarkable contribution to hospitality and tourism industry.
The award was handed over to him by Yasser Khan Choudhury, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, says a press release.
The award was presented at the Who's Who Bangladesh 2026 Award Ceremony, where 12 distinguished individuals and one institution were recognised for their exceptional achievements in various fields.
Among the awardees were Prof. Dr. GKM Mustafizur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Gazipur Agricultural University, in the field of agriculture; prominent film actress Farida Akter Popy, popularly known as Babita, in the field of art and culture; and Shahidul Alam, founder of Drik, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The ceremony was attended by respected dignitaries, professionals, and notable personalities from across the country.
Md. Shakawath Hossain has played a significant role in strengthening Bangladesh's hospitality sector through his visionary leadership at Unique Hotel & Resorts PLC, the owning company of leading hospitality brands including The Westin Dhaka, Sheraton Dhaka, and HANSA - A Premium Residence.
His strategic direction, professionalism, and commitment to excellence have contributed to raising service standards, promoting sustainable hospitality practices, and supporting the growth of Bangladesh's tourism industry.
Upon receiving the recognition, Md. Shakawath Hossain expressed his sincere gratitude and stated that the award reflects the collective dedication, hard work, and commitment of his team. He further emphasised his continued commitment to contributing to the advancement of Bangladesh's hospitality and tourism sector.
This recognition marks another milestone in Md. Shakawath Hossain's distinguished professional journey. Previously, he was honoured with several notable accolades, including Tourism Face of South Asia by South Asian Travel Awards, Best Hotelier of Bangladesh at the Hi-Aim Conference in Nepal, Best Hospitality Icon at the American Curry Awards, Hospitality Business Professional Award by TOAB, and Most Awarded Hotelier of 2024 by BIHA.
He is also recognised as the only Bangladeshi hotelier who simultaneously serves as an industry practitioner, academician, and researcher, and is a Capstone Fellow of the National Defence College.
