The 25th convocation of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) was held amid great splendor at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on Thursday.
Newly qualified cost and management accountants were formally awarded certificates and crests of honour in the presence of distinguished guests, says a press release.
Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, was present as the chief guest. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, FCMA, Secretary of IRD and Chairman of NBR; Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossain Bhuiyan, Chairman, FRC; and Mohammed Humayun Kabir, FCA, President, SAFA, were present as the special guests.
Adding global significance to the event, Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), attended as the convocation speaker, highlighting ICMAB's growing international engagement. The programme was presided over by Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, FCMA, President, ICMAB.
Addressing the gathering, Mahtab Uddin Ahmed said, "Reaching this stage has required tremendous effort, and there are no real shortcuts to success - shortcuts only delay achievement, just as skipping chapters delays passing an exam. I urge our graduates to carry this lesson forward in their professional journey."
In her speech, Syeda Rizwana Hasan remarked, "For the sake of transparency, the government must ensure strict management of its accounting system. Accounting and auditing are not merely about identifying weaknesses in expenditure; they are essential tools for providing constructive recommendations for improvement."
Speaking on the occasion, IFAC President Jean Bouquot stated, "I challenge you to find opportunities in every global challenge we face. As accounting professionals, we bridge the worlds of finance and non-finance to support sound internal and external decision-making. Continuous learning is essential for success in this profession. Along your journey, you will discover exciting opportunities and immense potential - seize them with confidence."
The 25th ICMAB Convocation 2026 concluded with renewed optimism, further strengthening pride in the accounting profession and reinforcing Bangladesh's international professional connections.
