A three-day Bangla Med Expo-2025 kicked off on Thursday at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), offering a global platform to showcase the latest medical equipment and healthcare innovations, reports UNB.

Bringing together more than 120 exhibitors representing over 400 brands from 10+ countries, the expo is expected to attract more than 6,500 trade visitors, including healthcare professionals, importers, and industry stakeholders, said a press release issued on Thursday.

Participants include manufacturers, importers and dealers of medical, surgical, hospital and diagnostic equipment from Bangladesh, China, India, Pakistan, Taiwan, Switzerland and others.

This year's edition features a wide range of products-from syringes, surgical gloves, masks, and needles to advanced diagnostic imaging devices, physiotherapy solutions, and hospital infrastructure technology.

Exhibitors are divided into nine major sectors: medical equipment and devices, disposables and consumables, orthopaedics and physiotherapy, imaging and diagnostics, healthcare services, IT systems, infrastructure and assets, as well as wellness and prevention.

Bangladesh's medical equipment and devices market, valued at USD 442 million in 2020, has been expanding steadily. It is projected to surpass USD 820 million by the end of 2025 and reach USD 3 billion by 2030, driven by demographic trends and the rapid expansion of healthcare facilities.

Currently, India and China dominate Bangladesh's sourcing of medical devices and consumables, accounting for about 25-30 per cent of the market while Germany and the US supply another 10-15 per cent. Taiwan and Pakistan maintain smaller shares, each below 3 per cent in most categories.

Among the notable exhibitors are Monir Neuro Spine Surgical Mart from Bangladesh, Brown Group and Soft Imaging from India, Aaymed from Pakistan, and Rossmax from Switzerland.

The expo will end on August 23.
