51st World Standards Day today

Today is the 51st World Standards Day. The theme of the day this year is 'Protecting the planet with standards', says a press release.

This day will be celebrated all over the world as well as in Bangladesh. President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam have issued separate messages on the occasion.

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) is organising several programmes as a national standards body. BSTI is organising discussions at its regional offices as part of observing the day. Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will telecast special programmes. On the other hand, different important places of the capital city are being decorated with banners, festoons and placards.

BSTI will organise a discussion at 11:00 am today at its Head Office at Tejgaon Industrial Area. Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun will be present as chief guest at the discussion. State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder, Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam and President of FBCCI Sheikh Fazle Fahim will be present as special guests. Director General of BSTI Dr. Nazrul Anwar will preside over the discussion.
