The 11th edition of the Asian Tourism Fair is going to begin in the city on September 19 with a view to boost the tourism industry.
This three-day fair will be held at International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka in cooperation with Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, Bangladesh Tourism Board and Tourist Police Bangladesh under the overall guidance of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, organized by Tourism Bichitra in continuation of last year.
One of the objectives of this fair is to make the tourist attractions of Bangladesh more popular among the people of the country and abroad and to build bridges with the regional tourism industry to restore momentum in the tourism industry, said organisers at a press conference held at a city hotel on Tuesday.
Mohiuddin Helal, Editor, Parjatan Bichitra, and Chairman, Asian Tourism Fair, said that Bangladesh with unique natural beauty and diversity could also be an attractive travel destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
"For this, government and private initiatives and sincere efforts are needed," he added.
Mohammad Atiqur Rahman, Managing Director of Bangladesh Service Limited, was present as the chief guest at the conference. The event was also attended by Ashith Shamla, Third Secretary of Bangladesh Maldives High Commission, Mohammad Shamsul Karim, General Manager (Sales) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, among others.
More than 100 tourism companies from Bangladesh, Maldives, China, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bhutan and Singapore will participate in the fair.
The fair will have various attractive travel offers, hotel, resort or package bookings including special discounts for domestic and foreign travel in the upcoming tourism season.
Among the organizations participating in the fair are hotels, motels, resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators and theme parks and many other entertainment establishments.
Apart from this, the fair will have tourism related seminars, drawing competition for children, business to business (B2B) meetings.
Every evening, during the fair, there will be cultural programs from China, Philippines and Bangladesh.
