Australia-Bangladesh Trade Conference 2019 is likely to be held in Sydney in April aiming to help boost bilateral trade between the two countries.
To this effect, a meeting was held at the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) headquarters in the city, a statement said.
BIDA Executive Chairman Kazi M. Aminul Islam and Bangladeshi High Commissioner to Australia Mohammad Sufiur Rahman, among others, attended the meeting.
The country's investment facilitating body with the support of agencies concerned such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) will organise the conference.
In the meeting, the BIDA chief said Bangladesh's economy is growing at a faster pace. The country needs to increase the extent of high-value investment to become a developed nation, he added.
"There is a need for enhancing the economic diplomacy to achieve the goal," he said. Mr Sufiur Rahman said the bilateral trade relation between Bangladesh and Australia is likely to grow much further in the coming years.
The upcoming trade conference will help the two countries increase the volume of export, import and investment, he added.
