BAB accredits 16 companies

Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) accredited 16 national and multinational testing and inspection companies on Thursday.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun handed over the accreditation certificates to the companies as chief guest at an event organised by BAB at the industries ministry.
State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder was the special guest of the event, presided over by Acting Industries Secretary Abdul Halim. BAB Director General Md Monoarul Islam was also present.
The companies those received the certificates are: National Metrology Laboratory of BSTI, 24 Engineer Construction BD Testing Laboratory of Bangladesh Army, Calibration Laboratory of Biman Bangladesh, Labaid Pathology Laboratory, Pathology Laboratory of United Hospital, Walton Hi-tech Industries', Garment testing laboratory of Taha Jiam, Inspection Agency of Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (Bangladesh) Ltd, Calibration Laboratory of SGS Bangladesh Ltd, Inspecting Agency of ITS Bangladesh Ltd., National Control Laboratory of Department of Drug Administration, Fish Inspection and Quality Control of Fish Department (FICC) Dhaka Laboratory, Analytical Chemistry Laboratory, Bangladesh Material Testing Laboratory and, Bangladesh Research and Testing Laboratory.
The minister said the imports and exports face some technical and non-tariff barriers in the competitive business world while accreditation is the acceptable and recognised system to address these barriers.
Since its establishment in 2006, the BAB awarded a total of 68 national and international testing laboratories with accreditation certificates.
