Qatar will host a Bangladeshi trade exhibition in December, a press release said.

'Made in Bangladesh' - the first-ever Bangladeshi trade fair in the Gulf state, is scheduled to be held in Doha on December 10-12, said the release.

The Bangladesh Embassy in the Middle Eastern country and the Bangladesh Forum Qatar (BFQ) - a registered organisation of Bangladeshi professionals and businessmen in Qatar, will jointly organise the exposition.

Different Bangladeshi products will be showcased in the three-day event.

The event will also build bridges between business people, investors and entrepreneurs from Bangladesh and their counterparts in Qatar which has emerged as a center of wealth and commerce in the Middle East.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Embassy and the BFQ arranged an outreach programme at a Doha hotel on September 13 as a first step to involve the members of Bangladeshi community in Qatar for successful organisation of the 'Made in Bangladesh' fair.

Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Ashud Ahmed along with other high officials of the embassy, representatives of Bangladeshi community organisations and Bangladeshi businesses were present at the programme.

In his address, Ambassador Ashud emphasised the need for collective efforts from each member of the Bangladesh community to imprint the perception about true Bangladesh in the host society.

Bangladesh has made enviable progress in many sectors which could be showcased in the exhibition, he said.

He urged all members of the Bangladesh community to collectively contribute to the exhibition from their respective positions.

He called upon the Bangladeshi community leaders to organise value added programmes in Qatar alongside Dhaka's initiatives to enhance Bangladesh's bilateral cooperation with Qatar in the areas of trade, investment, health, education and manpower export.

He also urged them to highlight in the events the enviable socio-economic progress made by Bangladesh in the last one decade.

BFQ's founding president Iftekhar Ahmad, who was also present, in his address introduced the BFQ and different initiatives taken by it to members of Bangladeshi community and highlighted the importance of their active participation to make the 'Made in Bangladesh' a fruitful event for enhancing image of the country and upholding the potential trade and investment portfolio of Bangladesh in Qatar.

Vice president of BFQ and team leader of 'Made in Bangladesh' from the BFQ, Yusuf Saeed presented in details the potential 18 major sectors of Bangladesh which are expected to participate in the fair.

He said Bangladesh companies and the local business communities in Qatar could take the benefit of showcasing their products and services as well as sharing mutual experiences by meeting prospective Qatari partners.

Representatibes of different organisations were also present at the programme. They appreciated the initiative and made suggestions as to how best they could contribute to holding the exhibition from their respective positions.
