Banglalink brings 4G to Chattogram

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 3: Banglalink, one of the leading digital communications service providers in Bangladesh, has officially launched 4G in Chattogram today. Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation AJM Nasir Uddin made the announcement at a function organized on the occasion at Peninsula Chattogram as chief guest.

The launching was followed by a press conference at the venue this afternoon which was also attended by the City Mayor. The mayor launched the programme by cutting a cake to mark the event.

Erik Aas, CEO, Banglalink, Soumen Mitra, Regional Director, B2C, Banglalink other management members, regional employees, distributors and others concerned were present on the occasion. A celebratory rally also paraded the CDA Avenue from GEC Intersection to Chittagong WASA Square.

Organisers said the superfast mobile internet provided by 4G network will enable the users of the region to enjoy zero-buffer HD video streaming, HD quality video calling, high fidelity music streaming, online gaming, social networking and all sorts of other internet services.

From the socio-economic perspective, 4G will play a vital role in improving healthcare services, facilitating remote education, easing transportation and making financial services more accessible, they said.

AJM Nasir Uddin said, we are living in an age when no sustainable development is possible without technological advancement of each and every aspect of our life. Chattogram has made remarkable technological progress over the years, and I am quite sure the arrival of 4G will facilitate the progress further.

By providing superfast internet 4G will ease people's access to internet services and inspire them to embrace the digital form of life. I would like to thank Banglalink wholeheartedly for availing this latest technology for the people of this region, he said.

Erik Aas said, Chattogram, as a major commercial hub in the country, deserves the best digital services to accelerate the rate of its growth in future. He firmly believes that the Banglalink 4G and doubled capacity of 3G services can play a vital role in digitalizing the commercial landscape of Chattogram along with bringing about a qualitative change in the lives of the people of this region.

Banglalink has also acquired additional 5 MHz spectrum in 2100 MHz Band and 5.6 MHz spectrum in 1800 MHz Band that will result in seamless digital connectivity and better coverage nationwide.

Soumen Mitra said Banglalonk launched the 4G services on the day the operator got the license. Banglalink is offering the service to its customers free of cost but to avail it one needs to use a handset adaptable to the service and his company is offering the handset at reduced price through its business partners.
