The Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) held its 35th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday.

BCI President Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury presided over the meeting held at the BCI board room at BCIC Bhaban in the city, according to a press release.

Two former BCI presidents, AM Subid Ali and AK Azad, BCI secretary general Ardhendu Shekhar Roy and other board members attended the AGM.

In his speech, Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury stressed the importance of creating skilled human resources by arranging training programmes for educated people with no jobs.

In this regard, BCI has taken an initiative to sign a tripartite agreement with Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) and SME Foundation, he said.

Under the initiative, potential entrepreneurs will be given training so that they can set up businesses in small and cottage industry across the country, he added.

With proper direction and training, these entrepreneurs can create many jobs which will help the country to bring down poverty to the ground level, he expressed the hope.

He also urged the BCI directors and members to work jointly for rapid industrialisation in line with the 4th industrial revolution (4IR).

The AGM approved the audit report for FY 2020-21.
