Bangladesh Civil Service (Taxation) Association recently elected tax commissioner Md Selim Afzal and additional commissioner Md Nuruzzaman Khan its president and secretary general respectively.
The association also elected tax commissioner Md Rezaul Karim its treasurer in the election held on December 30 last at a city hotel.
Tax member Rowshon Ara Akter and tax commissioners Shahin Akter and Atian Nahar have been elected vice-presidents.
Joint commissioner of taxes Md Shabbir Ahmed and Md Sayeduzzaman Bhuiyan have been elected joint secretaries general.
Other elected office bearers are as follows: Publicity and publication secretary-Md Mehedy Hassan, assistant publicity and publication secretary-Md Golam Kibria, research secretary-Dr Md Nurul Amin, assistant research secretary-Md Sajidul Islam, sports secretary-Sheikh Shamim Bulbul, assistant sports secretary-Md Mosaddek Hussain, office secretary-Md Mejbah Uddin Khan, assistant office secretary-Md Mehedy Masud Faisal, cultural affairs secretary-Mohammad Hefzur Rahman, assistant cultural affairs secretary-Sajid Khan, social welfare secretary-Murad Ahmed, assistant social welfare secretary-Jaane Alam, information and technology secretary-Shuhan Syed, assistant information and technology secretary-Md Asaduzzaman.
Some 26 tax officials including tax commissioners, additional tax commissioners, joint tax commissioners, deputy tax commissioners and assistant tax commissioners have been elected executive members of the committee.
The new committee will take over on January 8 for the term of 2018-2019.
About 101 candidates contested election for 47 posts.
As per the constitution of the association, president, secretary general and Taxes Club, Chittagong secretary general will be ex-officio executive members of the new committee.
