BCSIR to launch mobile laboratory soon

Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) is set to launch a mobile-laboratory soon to facilitate industrial and agricultural experiment, Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman said on Saturday.

Learners of the educational institutions including schools and colleges will also be benefited from the portable research facility, he added.

The minister made the disclosure at a view-exchange meeting with the BCSIR officials, at its office in the city, a statement said.

The minister also said the BCSIR should conduct research aimed at development of both the country and its people.

"Considering the necessity, the government is establishing new modern research facilities," said Mr Osman, adding that currently there are world-class laboratories in Bangladesh.

The innovations done in the laboratories should ensure the welfare of the country's people, he said.

Scientists and officials of the organisation attended the meeting, among others.

Later, the minister paid a visit to the recently launched genome laboratory at the BCSIR.
