BD Venture formally launched a crowdfunding platform on Wednesday for the entrepreneurs seeking funds to materialise their innovative ideas.
Young entrepreneurs attended the launching ceremony of the online platform -- fundsme.com.bd -- at BASIS Auditorium in the capital.
Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or venture by raising small amounts of funds from a large number of people, typically via the Internet.
BD Venture officials said entrepreneurs will have to develop a project profile, which typically includes a title, video, description of planned use of funds, funding goal, campaign duration and reward descriptions, to get the funds.
Entrepreneurs first fill out these recommended and required fields online, and if the project is approved, the crowdfunding platform will present their works in a pre-formatted page where visitors/backers can choose to give funds.
BD Venture will then coordinate further discussions between the entrepreneurs and investors.
At the programme, Managing Director and CEO of Green Delta Insurance Co. Farzana Chowdhury said international investors would also be able to reach out to the country's entrepreneurs through this platform.
"New entrepreneurs will be benefited by using this Internet-based crowdfunding platform," she added.
President of BASIS Syed Almas Kabir said IT-based entrepreneurs fail to get bank loans for lack of collaterals.
"Intellectual properties are the collaterals of IT-based entrepreneurs. I hope they will also be benefited through this platform," he said.
M Ehsanul Haque, chairman of BD Venture, said many people fail to materialise their ideas due to shortage of funds.
"Our objective is to create successful entrepreneurs," he added.
