The Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) recently organised a specialised training programme titled 'Enhancement of Negotiation Skills for Revenue Officers'.

This programme was designed to equip participants with essential negotiation techniques to efficiently handle revenue-related disputes while ensuring legal compliance and accuracy in decision-making, says a statement.

By strengthening the participants' understanding of regulatory frameworks and strategic negotiation, the programme sought to enhance organisational sustainability, improve financial management, and empower professionals to tackle complex fiscal challenges.

Mastering these skills not only facilitates dispute resolution and regulatory adherence but also opens avenues for career advancement across legal, financial, and corporate sectors.

The participants gained valuable insights into mitigating conflicts, optimising revenue strategies, and contributing to their organisations' overall profitability.

The training saw an enthusiastic turnout of 41 professionals from diverse backgrounds, including HR managers, senior officials from defence, leading trade organizations, government representatives, and legal practitioners.

The sessions were led by Barrister Khondoker M. S. Kawsar, who shared his expertise in negotiation strategies and conflict resolution.

The training covered the basics of negotiation, the stages of negotiation, and its importance for corporate professionals.

Key strategies included how to reach agreements ("Getting to Yes") and manage difficult individuals. A dedicated session on integrative negotiation (Harvard Method) emphasised finding win-win solutions.

Practical case studies on customs, VAT, and tax disputes helped participants apply their skills to real-world financial negotiations, enhancing their ability to handle complex challenges.

The programme concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, where BIAC Chief Executive Officer K A M Majedur Rahman presented certificates to the participants.

In his closing address, he emphasised the importance of applying these newly acquired skills to create a more cooperative, productive, and legally sound work environment.

Participants were encouraged to integrate their learning into daily professional practices, ultimately fostering efficiency and growth in their respective fields.
