Business leaders for more thrust on entrepreneurship promotion

RAJSHAHI, Jan 7 (BSS): Business leaders at a discussion on Sunday mentioned more thrust is needed for promotion of entrepreneurship particularly women through small and medium enterprises (SME) financing to accelerate the economy in the region.
Narrating the enormous significance of more development of entrepreneurship and increased financing to the SME sector they viewed field level bankers have a vital role to promote and explore the promising sector.
They made this observation while addressing a training workshop titled "Entrepreneurs Development and Business Planning Formulation" in the north-western divisional city.
Local unit of National Association of Small and Cottage Industries in Bangladesh (NASCIB) and SME Foundation jointly organised the workshop at conference hall of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI). Additional Secretary of Ministry of Commerce Obaidul Azam and Central President of NASCIB Nurul Gani addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with local NASCIB President Shafiqul Islam in the chair. RCCI President Md Muniruzzaman, local unit President of Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prof Rozety Naznin and business leaders Iftekhar Ali and Monwar Hossain also spoke.
Obaidul Azam said various business fields especially software, agro- processing and its business, agriculture plantation, fisheries, poultry, tissue culture, leather goods, health service and diagnostic centers and education services should be selected for investment.
The entrepreneurs should come forward towards establishing small and medium industries in the region to create employment opportunities for regional development.
He also called upon the women to come forward to take technical and vocational education without any hesitation for taking the country's business sector forward. Technical, vocational education and training among the women is very important for achieving the national development. Md Muniruzzaman noted that there was no alternative to industrial entrepreneurship development training for infusing dynamism into the industrialisation process besides generating genuine entrepreneurs.
