FE REPORT
The interim government will provide cash incentives for exporters of different types of juices and drinks, made from locally produced fruit pulp, with an eye to diversifying Bangladesh's export basket.
Allied exporters will receive a 10-per cent cash incentive, according to a notification issued on Thursday by the Foreign Exchange and Policy Department of the Bangladesh Bank.
The central bank has outlined a new guideline for cash incentives on the export of agricultural goods like vegetables, fruits and processed agro-products.
Under the guideline, exporters are now eligible for incentives on juices and drinks derived from locally sourced fruit pulp.
The notification refers to a related circular issued in 2019, which provided cash assistance to export products like pastes, fruit bars, canned goods, dehydrated items and juices or drinks made from fruits and vegetables.
The new directive clarifies that cash incentives will apply to juices and drinks made from locally sourced fruit pulp supplied by affiliates or other establishments within the country.
Other provisions from the 2019 circular regarding cash assistance in exporting agricultural and processed agricultural goods will remain unchanged.
Since July 01 of the current fiscal year, 2024-25, exporters have been receiving 10-per cent financial assistance for the same.
