CCCI president Mahabubul Alam, representative of JETRO to Bangladesh and president of JBCCI Yuji Ando signed the MoU at Bangabandhu Hall of CCCI on behalf of their respective organizations. CHATTOGRAM, Nov 22: Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Japan External Trade Organization and Japan-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding to prepare a 10-year plan of cooperation for private investors.
CCCI president Mahabubul Alam, representative of JETRO to Bangladesh and president of JBCCI Yuji Ando signed the MoU at Bangabandhu Hall of CCCI on behalf of their respective organizations.
The deal was signed marking 50 years of relationship in trade and business between Japan and Bangladesh.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh Ito Naoki, Bangladesh ambassador to Japan Shahab Uddin Ahamed, Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister's Office Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, and Chief Representative of JICA HAYAKAWA Yuho addressed the MoU signing ceremony through digital platform.
CCCI directors S M Abu Tayeb, Anjan Shekhor Das, Md Shariar Jahan, Md M Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Salman Habib, Shafique Ahamed Salam, Shahajada Md Foujul Alef Khan and representatives from Japanese companies also took part in the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Tipu Munshi said, "Signing of the MoU is an effective step to develop trade relationship between the two countries. We need plans to cooperate each other and the deal will help us in this regard."
Ito Naoki said, "The MoU will play a positive role in boosting the economy of Bangladesh. The Matarbari deep-sea port and Big B flagship projects are the examples of the economic friendship between Japan and Bangladesh."
He also said Japan will always help Bangladesh to ensure its development.
Shahab Uddin said, "The MoU will open a new era for trade and business between the two countries."
