CPA signs deal for hydraulic survey of Karnaphuli

CHATTOGRAM, Nov 18: Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) signed an agreement with HR Waling Ford Company of the United Kingdom (UK) for hydraulic survey of the river Karnaphuli on Tuesday evening.
The High Commissioner of UK to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson, Chairman of CPA Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad and high officials of the consulting firm and CPA were present at the signing ceremony.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson said, "I thank CPA for selecting a UK-based company for hydraulic survey of the river Karnaphuli. I hope the consulting company will do its work properly which will help the CPA and thus the economy of Bangladesh."
Chairman of CPA Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad said, "In 1961, Chittagong Port Authority conducted same study which was last hydraulic survey of the river Karnaphuli. CPA has been conducting projects for development of Chittagong port till now based on that survey report."
Mr Azad mentioned, "I believe the fresh hydraulic survey of river Karnaphuli will open new doors for the development of Chittagong port."
