DCCI biz team off to UAE today

FE REPORT | February 24, 2025 00:00:00

A 29-member business delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) departs for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today (Monday).

The three-day visit of the team, led by DCCI president Taskeen Ahmed, is aimed at expanding bilateral trade and investment between the two countries.

The trade delegates will also explore new business opportunities there.

They will explore ways to export diversified Bangladeshi products to different Middle-Eastern markets, including the UAE, in addition to attracting investment to Bangladesh and strengthening economic diplomacy and ties.

During the visit, the DCCI delegation will participate in several bilateral business meetings and B2B sessions with Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah chamber bodies.

The delegates will get a chance to showcase their areas of interest, product line-up, export/import interest and scope for joint ventures with UAE entrepreneurs through business matchmaking sessions.

More than 17 per cent of the total non-resident Bangladeshis working abroad are currently working in the UAE, which is the second largest considering the size of the labour market.

The total trade volume between Bangladesh and the UAE reached an estimated $2.0 billion in fiscal year 2023-24, according to the DCCI.

The scope for bilateral trade and investment continues to grow.

The DCCI team is scheduled to return home on February 28.
