DNCRP fines four shops Tk 14,000

The Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) fined four consumer shops Tk 14,000 on charges of manufacturing and selling unhygienic and sub-standard food items in Rajshahi city on Monday.

A DNCRP team conducted a raid at Bagha Bazar in the north-western divisional city and found Bagha Cosmetic Store, Madina Traders, Ma Bakery and Dolly Cosmetics guilty of preparing, possessing and selling food and other consumer items in unhygienic condition.

Subsequently, the team slapped a total of Tk 14,000 fine on the shop owners and realised the money instantly.

Hassan Al Maruf, Assistant Director of DNCRP, said such drive against the violations of consumers' rights will be continued in the days ahead.
