Fazle Fahim takes charge as FBCCI president

Newly elected president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Sheikh Fazle Fahim has sought cooperation from all to run the country's apex trade body successfully.

"We will move the FBCCI forward with cooperation from all," Mr Fahim said after he took charge from outgoing president M Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin at a function held at the auditorium of the country's apex trade body in the city on Sunday.

The former president handed over a 'FBCCI flag' to the newly elected president at the function.

Mr Fahim said he believes that the experience of former leaders of the apex trade body will certainly help the present board of directors in leading the FBCCI on the right direction for the betterment of the country's economy and growth.

Fazle Fahim was elected as the 24th president of FBCCI from the chamber group for 2019-21 term. He is representing Gopalganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Speaking on the occasion, he also promised to work with the board members of FBCCI as well as the business community.

He said the FBCCI will continue to play its due role in developing the country's economy.

Earlier, chairman of FBCCI election board Prof Ali Ashraf, MP announced the results of the board of directors of FBCCI for 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Representatives from chambers and association groups also attended the function.

Senior vice-president Md Muntakim Ashraf, directors, former presidents-- AK Azad and Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed-- and president of International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)-Bangladesh Mahbubur Rahman, also former president of FBCCI, were present.
