FBCCI leaders discuss investment issues with Chinese counterparts

Leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) on Tuesday discussed with their Chinese counterparts ways to boost trade and investment between the two countries, reports UNB.

On the second day of their visit to China, they joined a seminar on 'Bangladesh-China Trade and Investment Promotion' held at a hotel at Dalian.

The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) organised the seminar.

The leaders of CCPIT and leading Chinese businessmen were present at the programme.

FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim highlighted the recent economic advancement of Bangladesh and invited the Chinese investors to come up with more investments and avail the lucrative offers extended by the Bangladesh government.

Terming china an important trade partner, the FBCCI chief said the robust two-way trade with China stood at more than US$12 billion in the last fiscal year, with Bangladesh's exports totalling US$0.69 billion and the imports totalling US$11.7 billion.

The apex trade body leaders are now visiting China as entourage of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Sheikh Fazle Fahim is leading a 59-member business delegation, according to the FBCCI.

The FBCCI leaders will join a business roundtable with the leading Chinese entrepreneurs in Beijing on July 04.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also attend the roundtable.

A business meeting will also be held between FBCCI leaders and the business leaders of the Silk Road Chamber of International Commerce (SRCIC).

More than 400 Chinese companies are now operating their businesses in Bangladesh in various sectors like power, textile, weaving, leather, footwear, construction, engineering and non-banking financial institutions.

Members of the FBCCI delegation include FBCCI Senior Vice President Md Muntakim Ashraf, Vice Presidents Md Rejaul Kariem Rejnu, Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Md Siddiqur Rahman, Nizam Uddin Ahmed, FBCCI Directors Md Anwar Sadat Sarker, Kazi Aminul Haque, Prabir Kumar Saha, Sujib Ranjan Dash, Md Abu Naser, Md Nizam Uddin, Tabarakul Tosaddek Hossain Khan, Kazi Belayet Hossain, Mohd Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan, Mohammed Riyadh Ali, Benjir Ahmed, Syed Sadat Almas Kabir, Mehdi Ali, Md Munir Hossain, Syed Nurul Islam, Md Hasanuzzaman, Mohammad Munzoor Rahman and M Samiul Haque Shafa.
