Flower show begins in city tomorrow

A three-day international flower exhibition kicks off in the capital tomorrow (Thursday), aiming to promote commercial flower production in the country.

The exposition styled as 'International Flower Exhibition & Conference 2018' will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city.

The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) with the support of the USAID and in association with the Bangladesh Flower Society (BFS) organised the event.

The organisers announced the exhibition at a press conference at the DCCI auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.

About 70 local and international exhibitors will showcase various types of flowers in the exhibition, they said.

Representatives from India, Thailand and Nepal and other countries will participate in the flower show.

The event will feature flower parade, installation art by flower, art competition for children, puppet show, musical show, group dance and 3D visual show.

DCCI President Abul Kasem Khan said the flower industry is a very potential industry in the country.

Necessary government policies and steps to develop infrastructure are vital to promote this sector, he added.

DCCI Senior Vice President Kamrul Islam, FCA; Vice President Riyadh Hossain, Director Hossain A Sikder, Director Imran Ahmef, Director Mamun Akbar, Director Mohammad Bashiruddin, Director S M Zillur Rahman, The Chief of Party of USAID's Agricultural Value Chains (AVC) Project Lee Rosner, Deputy Chief of Party Bani Amin, and representatives from the Bangladesh Flower Society attended the press conference.
